As part of The Big Climate Connection, people from all walks of life will meet with their MPs to tell them: They want to see the UK play their part in ensuring there is significant progress towards a fair, ambitious and binding global climate deal at the Cancun climate talks at the end of November. They want the upcoming UK Energy Bill to be as strong as possible, with strong energy efficiency measures and including a minimum emissions performance standard for new power stations. 1= . The purpose of the convergence

The event is being organised by Young Friends of the Earth Europe and a team of volunteers and Belgian based activists, to bring together and build the European youth movement for climate justice, in reaction to the UN negotiations taking place.

It will be an opportunity to share and develop an understanding of what climate justice is and means, build links between activists across Europe and the world to take these demands further, and build a voice and reaction against the UN Climate talks without travelling to Canc=FAn itself.

Our call for climate justice goes far beyond the scope of the official UN summit! Independent of the results in Canc=FAn could achieve, there is a need to build our own capacities in order to build a strong and diverse climate justice movement based on real solutions, coming from real people and from the bottom up.=A0
This is reflected in the programme and topics that will be explored there- which you will find out more about in detail below.

2= . The Programme

From Friday 26th November- Sunday 28th November, we will take part in the European Peop= le's Assembly, also taking place in Brussels.
From Monday 29th November until 12th December we are hosting the Youth Climate Justice Convergence- a space and a daily programme for the duration of the two week UN Climate talks in Canc=FAn.

You are welcome to join for all or just part of these activities! However- letting us know when you will come helps us enormously at the logistical level- please contact femke.muylaert at foeeurope.org with your information.

Monday 29thNov- 12th December
Starting from Monday 29th November, a two week long programme with a range of activities will take place at our convergence space. These include workshops and skill shares for discussions, learning and planning on topics under climate justice, with each day introducing and tackling a different theme, as well as the online following of negotiations & daily political briefings as events unfold in Canc=FAn, and creating actions and our own media in reaction to this.
=A0
We have a very first outline of the draft programme that you can view here, which in a few days time will be updated in much more detail and you will get this very soon
(don't worry!)=A0

Topics to expect on the programme, range from the consequence of climate change for people and planet in both the global north and south, movement building, opposing false solutions (such as nuclear energy, agrofuels, offsetting and many other examples of corporate green- and brainwash), the historical responsibility for climate change, etc.

Additionally- much of the programme will develop as the event takes place with YOUR input and wants! Until then, we hope this gives you an impression of what each day will look like, and you trust us to bring you some nice surprises when the next version is made public!
